Bo Bay Today, Wed. May 27 - 8 a.m.
- by Jon Moore
First thought is always best
Here at Wharf Road end
Up at dawn
After a yawn
Hear Jane’s echo around the bend
Sun is up and piercing
Each hair on my face
Feel’s great
Make no mistake
Feels like I drew an ace
Softly rippling
Channel lapping
Folks in banter
One-hand clapping
There is one gull
Up on a rock
Scopes each move
Like the sweep hand of a clock
Jumping quickly
Makes the wall
Here come more
To a wall free-for-all
Right Here Today, on the BoBay

Bo Bay Today, Wed. May 13, 2009, 8AM
- Jon Moore
Warm air
Wafts in
Cool is aware
It’s time will end
By noon
Or less
The Cool
Will undress
And in it’s shoes
Won’t be feet
No singing the blues
In there will be heat
Late spring
In BoBo time
Blue skies sing
In striated rhyme
Feel skin cook
Heart’s on fire
Springtime looks
You’ll get no higher
Right here today on the Bo Bay
Some day, no more House music...
...But not today.
Part man-part robot, the Juan Maclean has a new album out: I’m not big on disco, but thought that the cover would look good here. And with any luck, “The Future Will Come” (DFA) will rock as hard as MacLean’s 2005 album “Less Than Human.” For now, scoring an Amoeba pick for May (and this trippy video) will have to be enough. Please note their June 6 appearance at Mezzanine in San Francisco.

Still Ramblin’
Ramblin’ Jack’s a man of our times. I lived near him once, he drives a dark blue F150. My roommate at the time told me that he first befriended Jack during an encounter at the mailbox. Apparently commenting on Highway One traffic, Jack exclaimed, It’s gettin’ to be like New York City around here!
He’s not wrong.
MetaCritic lauded Jack’s new album, A Stranger Here for – once again – touching the universal.

Late to state
Pacific’s plate
Gulls being fed
Falling bread from overhead
Throw it up
Gulls swoop
Chomp mid-air
Easy dupe
Huddle close
By the shore
Shriek ‘n shrill
Crows caw more
Walkin’ doggies
Folks abound
Talk to people
In doggie sounds
Flash ‘n splash
Incoming tide
Overcast
Take the day for a ride

Bring it
Love that Nightmares on Wax can bring better and better jams (like this one – “Bring it” — from his latest album, Thought So...), while keeping his sound well-intact.

Solace of space
For the human race
Can’t fall from grace
No, not in this place
Feeling sounds
From all around
Squawking finds
Gulls of like minds
Blasting rays
Heat in waves
As faces front
Feel the sizzling brunt
Boat to launch
Bo fisherman
At sea he’ll lunch
Then return again
Off the channel
Mirror sight
In all this space
No brighter light
than right here today on the Bo Bay
