Tides flood high

Moon is full

Moves the oceans
Yanks and pulls

Pelicans on roost again

Rapid waters ripple
Cools the rising updrafts
With the folding of each dimple

Race
Pace
Over land
Through space

The invisible force
Moves all liquids to
Unknown destinations

Forever melting
The seen with the scene

Seemingly seamless

Can’t be late
Out the gate
Scoot on up
To the Pacific plate

Blazin’ fire
Solar mire
Boats aspire
To pull pots of wire

Crabs galore
Season’s in
On the seabed floor
Is where they begin

Walkin’ sideways
All of their days
Then ‘shock and awe’
When poking in a claw

Quick onto the boat
Crabbers snag the lot
Boilin’ up the brine they go
From pot to pot to pot

20 Minute Loop: Done

This band has been a staple in the Bay Area, and on KWMR for years. Read the news in this note from the band (lifted from The Bay Bridged)

"20 Minute Loop is breaking up.

We’ve been a band in one form or another for over ten years, pushing through various difficulties and enjoying very modest rewards, until the day has arrived when there is no way to continue, at least not a way that can outmaneuver those notorious real-life contingencies that typically mean the death of most bands.

Rest assured, if there were any compelling reasons to continue, they would be the support and recognition many of you have given us for such a long time. In fact, with zero remuneration, we have found that two facts have kept us crawling along:

1) We love the music.

2) We love the friends we made through the music.

Our thanks to you for giving us a good time. For what it’s worth, every member of 20 Minute Loop still loves every other member of 20 Minute Loop. That’s not what this is about."

The band's last show is set for this Sunday at the Bottom of the Hill, in San Francisco.

Remember?

Pretty Lights

Yes. They just came through the Bay Area a few nights ago. Yes, they're getting a lot of good press these days. Yes, they're very young and use too much of the same weird synth noises. But I liked this album.

A few of these tracks kick ass. They need real vocal support instead of the existing, disconnected, dare I say "hanging" threads (nods to GrandMaster Flash being the exception: do it!). But, look – they're young, and we can clearly expect more good things to come!

The tracks are well-timed, that is: you get enough of what you want here. They also deserve credit for venturing into the "free" market, the bold new territory pioneered by Radiohead. Download it. If you like it make a donation.

Pet Sounds: In The Key Of Dee

(via mixtapemixtape)

[Artist Note]

-- by Bullion

It’s The Beach Boys raised in Detroit. It’s Brian Wilson with an MPC. Using Pet Sounds together with drums from your Dad's record collection, this is The Beach Boys' masterpiece remixed by Bullion, with the late great J Dilla in mind. From California to West London via Motor City. Is it fan-tas-tic? God only knows…

Bo Bay Today, Wed. Oct 7, 2009

-- jon moore

Hot sun
Morn born
Bay play
Groove smooth

Seal deal
Walk talk
Folks jokes
Water otter

Cool air
Rises off
Incoming still
Gull shrill

Make haste
Be cool
Get yourself
Off to school

Fall’s tall
Makes love
Of all
Without a glove

Right here today
On the Bo Bay

Bo Bay Today, Wednesday, Sept. 30 2009

- by Jon Moore

It is fall
Crispy calls
On the bay
Surfer’s stay

Make a wave
Tilt the bowl
Campers crawl
Out of the small

Camping spots
There aren’t a lot
Of hidden caves
To hide a cot

Day in day out
Beach is bed
Downtown hangouts
The place to get fed

And we’re off
One-quarter left
Of two-thousand nine
Now play out the rest

Right here today, on the Bo Bay
